The Wailea Emerald Golf Course

There are three Wailea courses. The Wailea Emerald shares a clubhouse with the Wailea Gold course. The Wailea Blue course is separate but only a mile or so down the street from the other courses.

Rates & Special offers: Easiest way is to log onto https://waileagolf.com. Here you can review the rates first. The rates are separated into two sections, Dec-April and May-Dec. Depending on when you’re planning your trip, the rates are slightly different. If you are lodging at one of the local Wailea resorts, like the Grand Wailea and the Wailea Beach Resort by Marriot, the rates are lower. If you’re staying at any resort outside of Wailea, there is another discounted rate for you. Twilight rates, in our opinion, make the most sense. Twilight begins at noon. During the longer days, we’ve taken advantage of the Happy Hour rates.

Club rental prices are listed at the bottom of the webpage and below that are the special offers.

The Seahorse Swing package is three days of unlimited golf and a discounted rate for three days of club rentals. What this means is that you can play more than 18 holes on a given day. The three days don’t have to be consecutive. You can golf Monday, Thursday, and Saturday and play multiple rounds on any of the days.

Kids play for free after 3 pm.

These rates are subject to change. Make sure you check the website for current rates and special offers.

Booking Tee Times. Booking tee times is done either by calling the pro shop or by using the website. The pro shop folks are accommodating and just all-around pleasant. You’ll find this is true of everyone you meet on the course.

We booked our tee times one week in advance and had no issues getting the times we wanted. We also booked several times the same day, and we were able to make it work.

Pre-game: Arriving at the course, you drop your bags at the bag drop, and there’s a call button you use to have your bags picked up for you.

Head into the pro shop to pay for your round, and if you need clubs, they’ll get you dialed in.

The pro shop is quite large. It has everything you’ll need from socks, gloves, balls, shoes, really everything.

Stop at the counter just outside to grab a basket of range balls. There are range carts there to take up to driving range. The driving range is at the top of a hill, so hold on to your balls. 😊 Funny story, the handle on my range ball basket broke one time as I was getting out of the cart at the driving range, and all my range balls went rolling down the hill past the starter. I asked him if he enjoyed the ball avalanche, and he said I wasn’t the first person who had that happen to them. The range is excellent. It includes a chipping area and a practice bunker. Back down the hill are two large practice putting greens.

The golf course carts are great. The carts have coolers and GPS. A helpful tip: When you head out onto the course, be sure to be stopped when you select the language on the GPS. If you hit the wrong language, you could end up with everything in German or Chinese, and it’s challenging to fix it.

There is a concession cart that comes around. The cart has all the regular snacks and lunch items. You don’t swing back by the clubhouse until the end, so the cart is your only option.

There are two restrooms on the course—one on the front nine and one on the back. You’ll be able to access the restrooms from multiple holes.

The Emerald Course is our favorite course of the three. There are views on this course that will make you want to stay forever. Each beautiful hole will take your breath away. The fairways are generous and meticulously maintained. The greens, too, are beautiful. They play slow, and it takes a couple of holes to adjust to.

This course offers six tee boxes on every hole; clearly, they want all levels to enjoy their round of golf. The course rewards those who are skillful at ball placement. They’ve made it fun for couples, leveling the playing field in a sense. I will include a link to the scorecard so that you can get course length details.

Wailea is on the dryer side of the island. You don’t typically get any significant rain. However, the trade winds do come up in the afternoon. I enjoy playing when it’s breezy. It keeps the temperatures cool.

When you’re finished with your round, you’ll end up back at the clubhouse. The attendants will meet you, clean your clubs and take them back out to the curb. Just like the employees in the pro shop, the attendants are extremely friendly and helpful. The rule of thumb is to tip the attendants $5-$10 per golf bag.

You’ll most likely be ready for lunch, a snack, or a beverage. There is an excellent restaurant in the clubhouse, Gannon’s. There is a large bar, dining room, and outdoor lanai with panoramic ocean views. I love the fish tacos and the salmon. You can get more details from the website.

You will love this course! Depending on your budget, they may be pricy, but I promise the Wailea Emerald is worth every penny.

Next up will be my second favorite Wailea Golf Course, the Wailea Gold.

If I’ve missed including something, let me know in the comments.
